Ancient Breathing / Lewty, Simon., 1991
Commissioned for "The Beauty In Breathing" exhibition. The images read from bottom to top, move from earth to air, and then back again as a metaphor for breathing. A landscape signifies breathing of earth and a mandrake root "screams" when pulled fro the earth. A balloon man adapted from a Chinese Taoist illiustration of psychic breathing, hovers over the sea in a place where air is "worth breathing."
